What inspired you to pursue a career in mental health?
I have always loved working with kids and wanted to find a career where I could continue to do so. I have always been drawn to helping people feel understood and supported, especially during hard seasons. I love being able to help kids build skills while also supporting parents and families.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting therapy, what would it be?
I like to tell clients that therapy isn’t a race. Give yourself permission to go at your own pace. It is okay to explore, pause, or take things slowly. Progress is not linear, and real change often comes from consistent small steps rather than big leaps.
What do you love most about working with children, teens, or families?
I am in awe of the resiliency and strength kids and teens demonstrate. I love that therapy can be a place where kids can discover their own strengths and find their voice. I also love that it is a time when we can be silly, playful, and creative.
What is one self-care practice that you never skip?
Exercise is my favorite form of self-care. I always try to prioritize getting at least some movement in every day.
How do you unwind after a long day at work?
After a long day of work, I find joy in taking a walk with my family and dogs.
What is a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
I grew up in a small mountain town and I love skiing. Growing up, I skied competitively.
What motivates you on tough days?
On tough days, I am motivated by my family and loved ones. Their support always helps me through.
Do you prefer the beach or the mountains and why?
I prefer the mountains. Since I grew up in the mountains, that is where I feel most at home.
What is one thing you have learned from your clients?
One thing I have learned from my clients is how resilient each and every person is. Even in difficult situations, they find ways to cope, express themselves, and adapt. This has taught me to approach challenges with more patience, curiosity, and hope.
If you weren’t in this field, what would you do instead?
I love coffee, and if I were not a psychologist, I would love to open a coffee shop.
